Where should first-time visitors stay in Costa Rica?
A classic first trip pairs Arenal (volcano and rainforest) with a beach base like Manuel Antonio or Guanacaste, often adding Monteverde’s cloud forest. It’s the easiest introduction to the country’s range without long transfers.
Are Costa Rica’s eco-lodges comfortable?
Yes. They range from rustic-but-charming to genuinely luxurious. Even the most remote Osa Peninsula lodges offer excellent food, en-suite comfort, and expert guides — “eco” refers to their footprint, not a drop in comfort.
Is it better to stay in one place or move around?
Move around. Costa Rica’s appeal is its variety, and the regions are close together. The most rewarding trips spend two to three nights in each of two or three regions.
Do the lodges include meals and tours?
It varies by property, and we build the right combination into your itinerary — some stays are all-inclusive with guided excursions, others are bed-and-breakfast with tours added separately.
